Only Lara Croft can pull this off
The world’s most esoteric artifacts would wind up in thrift shops if they weren’t so well hidden behind a gauntlet of perilous cliffs, unbearable weather, and ancient traps. Few explorers can succeed in this realm, and even fewer have the experience that Lara Croft has garnered since her debut in Tomb Raider. In Rise of the Tomb Raider, we learn why Lara had to endure so much - to prepare her for a more daunting ascent. There’s nobody else tough enough to get the treasure this time. Turning her traumatic coming-of-age into armor, Lara enters Rise of the Tomb Raider with a new ferocity, fit for a game that rebalances its ratio of combat, exploration and - yes - tombs. If you want to make a Tomb Raider game, it seems, you have to make a good Lara Croft first.
